Israeli attacks destroy Gazan's houses ‎

Story Code : 207605
Israeli attacks destroy Gazan
A house under construction was totally destroyed.
Its Owners built it with construction material that was brought in via tunnels under the border with Egypt.

Israeli forces ban the entry of building materials claiming that Gazans could use it to build military bunkers.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most over-populated areas in the world with a population nearly 1.7 million.

Children make up over sixty percent of the densely populated sea-side sliver. Housing is scarce due to lack of building material and equipment.

Israeli forces destroyed thousands of homes in Gaza during the twenty day war in late 2008 and still refuse to allow reconstruction materials. That war also claimed the lives of nearly fourteen hundred Gazans including hundreds of women and children.

A human rights worker has accused the international community of failing to protect the Palestinians of Gaza.

Palestinian resistance fighters retaliated to the Israeli air-strikes by firing home-made rockets at Israeli military bases east of the Gaza Strip.

Many here say they wish that some country would rein in the Israeli hegemony. Victims of the renewed Israeli strikes say they still haven’t reconstructed what Israeli forces destroyed during the war on Gaza at the turn of 2009.
