The GOP's Election Strategy: If You Can't Win, Steal It

Story Code : 199754
The GOP
In less than two months America will go to the polls to elect -- theoretically -- their leader for the next four years. Eventually we may be able to vote on those who wield the true power in the U.S. -- the chairman of Goldman Sachs, ExxonMobile, JPMorgan Chase or Citibank but for now Americans will have to vote for the Democrat or Republican that supposedly represents them (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/09/07-3). But just because the GOP has the more obviously corrupted pathological liars as their candidates for the White House, don't assume that what happened in 2008 when President Obama was elected will happen again. The GOP's voter suppression campaign is aimed at stopping that.

Far too often in U.S. politics, American citizens are not represented by Democrats or Republicans -- monopolistic corporations and the extremely wealthy are. In many ways, to both Parties, Americans are disposable (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article32383.htm) but the GOP is by far the greatest Party of moral fraud (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article31803.htm). The GOP always tries to disguise their economic plunder with fallacious ideas about things like freedom, Christianity, equality, civilization and other nice-sounding words. Double speak plays a major role in politics. Currently, the GOP is busily pushing four years of anti-Obama propaganda -- going so far as to portray Obama as a Muslim despite his murdering Muslims in seven countries -- to convince the public to vote for Romney and relying on their proprietary electronic voting machines to win this year's Presidential primary.

65 years of tax cuts for the wealthy has created record inequality, not prosperity (link: http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/09/17-4). Following the GOP's delusional game plans since the appointment of George W. Bush to the presidency in 2000 and the fraud his administration enabled has greatly increased that record and inequality is out of control (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/07/02-0).

Winning in a Fair Election System is Unlikely for the GOP

Winning an election in a fair and reliable electoral system is unlikely for the GOP and the truth is, our elections -- from the presidency on down to local government levels -- are dominated by cash, and without question, the GOP excels more than Democrats at violating election law (link: http://www.alternet.org/module/printversion/155978) and will go to any length to keep the names of their fat cat corporate donors secret. Until a quintet of politically corrupt U.S. Supreme Court Justices decided to allow their corporate masters to purchase state and federal elections in 2010, there were legal constraints in place that prohibited corporations from purchasing elections, and the fact that fewer corporations own most of the media in the U.S. has greatly enhanced corporate power and corruption.

George W. Bush has been easily eclipsed by Mitt Romney as the most lying candidate this country has ever seen, telling 616 lies -- most of which are easily verifiable -- in 33 weeks (link: http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/09/08/mitt-romney-616-lies-in-33-weeks/) in his campaign to take over the nation's top job. In fact, Romney's unlimited pathological ramblings make one question the value of a Harvard education (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/06/14-12). Virtually every time Romney opens his mouth, lies come out. But Romney's moronic mendacity in attacking President Obama and his handling of the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya that killed the U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans -- while lying about Obama expressing sympathy for the terrorists involved in the attack make Romney look even more delusional (link: http://www.thenation.com/blog/169902/romneys-fatal-libya-blunder?rel=emailNation%22). Romney has made major blunders on the Libya attack (link: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/16/they-have-to-go-all-in-on-every-front-class-warfare-culture-and-foreign-policy.html) and revealed his true colors at a private fundraiser that was videotaped (link: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/09/secret-video-romney-private-fundraiser).

Paul Ryan is a political careerist whose entire life has been spent as a Congressional aide, fraudulent think-tank lackey and a Congress member who would love nothing more than to continue the G.W. Bush cabal's illegal actions and give the rest of the U.S. economy to his Wall Street masters (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/08/09-3). Ryan typifies Washington's culture of corruption due in part to the fact that he is a devoted follower of Ayn Rand and her sociopathic delusions (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article32268.htm). Ryan will prove to be a thorn in Romney's side, and is in fact a hypocrite on spending, especially when it comes to Wall Street, the Insurance industry and the Military-Industrial complex.

A close look at Paul Ryan reveals that right-wing GOP Sycophants have finally found their salvation (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/08/13-6). Ryan made millions of dollars thanks to his shady insider trading deals made during the financial meltdown in 2008 off the massive fraud of his Wall Street friends (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/news-amp-politics/revealed-romney-campaigns-attempts-deny-paul-ryans-insider-trading-dont-add). The media would have you believe that Ryan is a financial genius, but he is actually nothing more than a major fraud that caters to the one percent (link: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/20/opinion/krugman-an-unserious-man.html?_r=2). Ryan helped destroy the economy for his Wisconsin constituents (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/08/20-4), and the dubious "Path to Prosperity" – the fraudulent budget based on Ayn Rand’s delusional fantasies (link: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/02/opinion/krugman-pink-slime-economics.html) – concocted by Ryan would prove beneficial for those who own him and disastrous for the rest of us (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/election-2012/paul-ryans-path-prosperity-really-bad-trip-road-economic-ruin). For an example of how the U.S. would look under the GOP’s dubious dream team, all you need to do is look at Wisconsin – Ryan’s state – and everything that has happened there over the past four years under the GOP’s leadership.

Because of their dubious presidential dream team, their egregious track record and their dystopian policies, tactics – which have been dubiously mastered after decades of practice – used in the GOP's election strategy for stealing the 2012 U.S. Presidential election include (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/09/06-4):

1.      Using free-flowing Corporate money to buy and sway elections thanks to a quintet of corrupt U.S. Supreme Court "Justices;"
2.      Rigging the Electoral College to narrow the number of votes needed to be moved to swing a presidential election;
3.      Disenfranchising ten million or more citizens, most of whom are likely to vote Democratic -- Black, Latino, Poor and Senior Citizens -- and illegally purging more than a million voters in key swing states;
4.      Accelerating the use of fraudulent electronic voting machines making it simple for predominantly Republican owners and operators to easily rig Republican votes;
5.      Controlling the Governorship in the swing states that will decide the outcome of the 2012 Presidential elections; and
6.      Turning to their corporately corrupt U.S. Supreme Court majority to overturn historic civil rights legislation to take America back to the days when states had the right to deny voting capabilities to minority voters (link: http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/09/07-4).

Super PACs Quicken the Death March for Democracy

Super Political Action Committees (Super PACs) were organized to quicken the death march for Democracy after the decision made by the quintet of corrupt corporately owned Supreme Court Justices allowed corporations and wealthy individuals to purchase elections and subvert Democracy in secret as long as they stay separate from the campaigns themselves. Fraudulent GOP Super PAC front groups, affiliated with Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers, led by the American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, create bogus ads propping up the GOP's corrupt, dimwitted, pathological presidential candidate (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/09/14-8), far outspending the pro-Obama front group Priorities USA Action. The Crossroads groups are run by Karl Rove. Americans for Prosperity is one of many fraudulent GOP Super PACs founded and funded by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch. Through the end of August this year, more than $100 million was spent pimping support for Mitt Romney and his mendacious campaign by these fraudulent front groups who don't have to disclose who the donors are because of the way they are organized as social welfare groups under U.S. tax laws.

Now that corporations can pour as much money as they want to spread propaganda (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/far-right-our-speech-freer) and try to buy the elections, it's estimated that $1.1 billion will be spent on fraudulent campaign ads (link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/8-battleground-states-in-presidential-race-to-feel-even-greater-crush-of-tv-ads/2012/09/08/ae6808e2-f98a-11e1-a0a1-b07778c66e04_print.html) aimed at convincing voters that the frauds backed by corporations should be elected. Eight states, according to the Washington Post (WAPO), are considered battleground states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia. Obama carried them all in 2008, but the WAPO claims they are too close to call for now.

The flow of corporate cash in the 2012 elections is already out of control. Republicans and Democrats have no real desire to curb that influx of corporate cash in U.S. elections since most of them are beholden to large corporations. Barack Obama has spent most of his presidency catering to corporate interests, but most of the corporate money flowing into this year's elections is being spent with the hopes of ousting him, and much of that corporate cash will restrict the ability of many Americans to vote, as it will manipulate the vote counts against public interests (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/09/06-4). Democrats are not much better than Republicans when it comes to stopping voter suppression, and 2012 will be the year of corporations buying seats for GOP candidates to take control of the government from Democrats and screwing Democracy.

The GOP Cleverly Perpetrates its Fraud in Broad Daylight

The GOP has become fiendishly clever in perpetrating its fraud in broad daylight (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/06/02-6). In reality, voter fraud in the U.S. is virtually non-existent, and the fact is when it does happen, it is perpetrated by the GOP. Look at Florida and the hanging chad fiasco that resulted in the appointment of George W. Bush to the presidency in 2000. Voter fraud in Ohio during the 2004 elections resulted in Bush being awarded a second term. Bush had two terms in the White House despite never being elected thanks to two corrupt GOP Governors, one of which was his brother. Nothing is left to chance by the GOP when it comes to stealing elections. Like the other 20 plus Republican-controlled states, Florida is going all out to stifle the likely Democratic vote before the 2012 election in November by disenfranchising many Democratic voters.

The GOP's voter disenfranchisement campaign in Florida has come a long way since Jeb Bush enabled election fraud in Florida twelve years ago. Recently, a federal judge scolded Florida's GOP leadership and their latest attempt to rig the election. U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle eviscerated the GOP's so-called electoral reform and struck down a provision aimed at voter suppression which rendered voter registration virtually impossible. The GOP attacks early voting because it is so popular with Democrats and those that vote for them. Many Americans have a hard time voting on a Tuesday because they work or have other priorities to attend to so being able to vote early is a convenience.

The GOP's pontificated claims of voter fraud have nothing to do with actual fraud and everything to do with the fact that early voting gives President Obama an advantage. For example, in North Carolina in 2008, early voting gave Obama the state by less than 15,000 votes, more than half of which were cast by African Americans. But the Florida GOP took their voter disenfranchisement scheme to a new low. State officials used an off-the-wall scheme of cross-referencing voter rolls and driver's license records to create a list of 180,000 names they claim might not be American citizens (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/06/02-6). Other swing states are attempting similar purges of voters to make sure they can't vote for President Obama.

Disingenuous GOP Voter ID Laws Illegal and Unnecessary

The GOPs voter suppression schemes have led to draconian voter ID laws in many states which are both illegal and unnecessary. In Pennsylvania, one of the more controversial swing states where one politically corrupt court used outdated, bigoted court decisions to allow voter suppression (link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/voter-id-law-pennsylvania_n_1873941.html) and delusional reasoning that is harshly questionable (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/hot-news-views/pennsylvania-supreme-court-harshly-questions-gop-backed-voter-id-law). Fortunately the GOP doesn't own every Judge and some states, such as Iowa (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/hot-news-views/iowa-judge-blocks-voter-suppression) and Florida (link: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-08-29/judge-may-toss-florida-voter-registration-limits) are actually abiding by the law and blocking the GOPs unconstitutional voter suppression scheme.

The cynical among us are well aware that America's political duopoly caters to the 1 percent – it’s true that Obama's number one private contributor during his 2008 campaign were the people of Goldman Sachs, Obama care is a billion dollar gift to Insurance companies, Obama refused to go after the Bush cabal and hold them accountable for their traitorous actions deciding instead to expand on the Bush cabal's illegal surveillance, racial profiling and illegal power grabs, Obama put Tim Geithner and Larry Summers in charge of economic policy and Obama reneged on his promise to close Gitmo while allowing murderous torturers impunity for their war crimes -- and may tend to forego voting, but allowing the GOP to steal the election for its dubious Presidential dream team would be a disastrous mistake.

For nearly four years a vindictive GOP has purposely obstructed everything President Obama has tried to accomplish which isn't surprising considering the fact that for decades the GOP has pushed failed policies and enabling fraud that has destroyed ordinary citizens while enriching their corporate masters and the GOP's dubious dream team is a bitter pill to swallow. With Romney and Ryan's moronic mendacity inching closer to the White House, Washington's culture of corruption is one step closer to fulfilling its Kafkaesque dreams.

In the words of Michael Moore (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/09/07-3), "Shall we give the country back to the crowd who gave the country to the 1%?” No. It's time to be fierce and relentless in the next two months, to help and encourage others to vote, and to keep an eye on the GOP's voter suppression scheme. It's time to educate the purposely misinformed FOX "News" population, especially in swing states and the South. Politics and the fate of the Nation -- and the world -- is at the forefront of U.S. affairs for those of you paying attention and wanting to take control of your country back can take advantage of the coming weeks before the elections. Four years is not enough to straighten out the fraudulent mess inherited from Obama's predecessor and contrary to the GOP's lies, the U.S. is better off now than it was four years ago. Don't sit this election out.
