Propaganda can’t hide atrocity of Israel's assault on Gaza

Israel claims it is "defending itself" but the reality is quite the opposite. Israel's aggression is only possible because of the U.S. Government's unwavering diplomatic, financial and military support for Israel and all the crimes its government commits (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/11/17-8 [2]) and Americans are often purposely deceived (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/11/19-1 [3]) by corporate  media.

Americans aren't alone in their omnipresent ignorance and apathy to Israel as many media reports about the fighting in Gaza are skewered. For example, when U.S. media reports on missiles being fired from both sides, it neglects to mention the fact that the missiles fired from Gaza by Hamas are more like bottle rockets compared to the U.S. missiles -- paid for by U.S. taxpayers -- being fired by Israel at civilians in Gaza and many more innocent civilians are being slaughtered by Israel in Gaza. Israel claims Hamas hides behind civilians which is why so many get killed but the truth is, civilians are targeted regularly by Israel and have been since the conflict began and Israelis and Islamists have dehumanized each other for decades (link: http://www.thestar.com/News/World/article/606064 [4]) and regardless of how they spin it, propaganda can’t hide the atrocity of Israel’s most recent assault on Gaza.

Common misconceptions behind the Israeli-Gaza conflict

The reality is, the current conflict in Gaza did not begin with rockets fired at Israel (link: http://www.commondreams.org/video/2012/11/19 [5]). In fact, there are many misunderstandings and propagandized misconceptions behind the Israeli-Gaza conflict, including (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/4-most-common-myths-about-israel-and-gaza-debunked [6]):

Hamas started the fighting - the truth is, both sides bear responsibility for the fighting, but Israel is by far more often the perpetrator, and has done all it can to antagonize Hamas to lead them to slaughter.

Israel is only killing militant "targets" - the truth is, all of the "targets" are human, and many of them are women, children and senior citizens who are not actively involved in the conflict. Any time Israel slaughters civilians, the "targets" are labeled as Muslims.
 

Israel airdropped leaflets warning Gazans to avoid locations and individuals affiliated with Hamas - the truth is, in the first five days of the latest conflict, Israel bombed an estimated 1,643 sites in a 140 square mile area, which is almost twice the size of Washington D.C. Exactly where are 1.6 million civilians in Gaza going to hide?

Retaliation by Palestinians is terrorism - the truth is, the right to self-defense is enshrined in international law and according to the Geneva Conventions, a people under occupation have the legal right to resist their occupation. Why are the retaliating families of Palestinians being routinely slaughtered by Israeli forces -- which target and assassinate Hamas Government and Military officials -- being called militants?

Israel's most recent attack on Gaza enabled by Washington

Claiming to fight its war against terrorists in our name is preposterous and despite their demands for it, support for Israel's atrocities is waning (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33095.htm [7]). The reality of life in Gaza exposes Israeli propaganda for what it is (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33078.htm [8]). After the most recent round of Israel's atrocities in Gaza, its U.S. ties could be at a crossroads (link: http://consortiumnews.com/2012/11/24/us-israel-ties-at-a-crossroads/ [9]) as diplomatic damages are growing too severe due to the moral depravity of the crimes Israel is committing.

Israel's most recent attack on Gaza was enabled by collusion with Washington (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33080.htm [10]) which green lighted Israel's military operations, supplied weaponry to Israel, provided Diplomatic protections to Israeli War Criminals, and has its pro-Israel corporate media (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article32739.htm [11]) provide skewered coverage of what is really happening in Gaza (link: http://www.alternet.org/print/news-amp-politics/5-ways-america-enables-israels-atrocities [12]). Journalistic clichés such as 'Surgical Air Strikes" and "Rooting Out Terror" cannot conceal the realities of Israel's egregious crimes against humanity in Gaza (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33087.htm [13]).
 
Israel’s atrocities resemble the actions of Hitler's Nazis

 In reality, Israel's atrocities in Gaza bear a striking resemblance to the actions of Hitler's Nazis (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article21781.htm [14]) and the crimes they committed in Jewish history's darkest hour (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33093.htm [15]). Gaza is a concentration camp (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33077.htm [16]). Israel's leaders don't want a Palestinian state and are busily stealing its land (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33116.htm [17]).

The recent ceasefire agreed to by Israel and Hamas in Cairo after eight days of fighting is only temporary (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33138.htm [18]). The Palestinians realize that Israel is the region's pariah and they are not facing Israel on their own. The fighting will erupt again as Israel has never needed much pretext to go to war with anyone and is diligently searching for support in an attack on Iran. The Arab world is changing but Israel is not. Palestinians are stronger than ever while the Jewish state has been exposed as an impotent manic-depressive collective driven by neurotic, impotent leaders (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33141.htm [19]) like Benjamin Netanyahu (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33145.htm [20]) who are leading Israel into isolation.

Take a closer look at the relationship between the U.S. and Israeli Governments (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article33136.htm [21]) and all the deceptions they weave. This isn't the first time Israel has committed atrocious war crimes in Gaza and it undoubtedly won't be the last so it's important to understand what is really happening. It's up to us to challenge Washington and end its unconscionable support for Israel's ongoing terrorism in the Middle East.
