Washington’s Espionage Charades: Exactly Who Is The Traitor?

Those that leak irrefutable proof of the U.S. government's criminal activities to the public aren't endangering "national security" or bringing "injury to America." President Barack Obama, the man who ran for office under the false pretenses of "hope and change" and pledged, among other things, to protect whistle blowers and more transparency has proved himself to be nothing but a liar who has ended up selling his constituents out to Washington's culture of corruption. Obama and his administration have taken egregious stances on national security and press freedoms lower than President Richard M. Nixon ever could while expanding on George W. Bush's crimes.
 
When those who have the most contempt for the rule of law are as corrupt as those in Washington are nowadays try to manipulate the law to hide their crimes, you have major injustices and the rule of law becomes nonexistent. With the revelation that the government has been spying illegally on everyone in the U.S., it's a pretty sure bet that the government has been using their illegal espionage to blackmail anyone who opposes their criminal actions (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35404.htm).

To understand the endless depths of corruption in Washington, all you need to do is follow the money (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35389.htm). The National Security Agency's (NSA's) illegal spying on and surveillance of U.S. citizens, the "War on Terror," and numerous other illegal activities conducted by our "intelligence" complex with increasing regularity isn't done to keep us safe. It's done to enrich corrupt corporations and their bought and paid for minions in Washington (link: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2013/06/25).
 
Trying to charge Edward Snowden with crimes under an espionage act from 1917 when Snowden did not commit any acts of espionage is asinine, and it reveals how far Obama is desperate enough to go to keep his crimes covered up. Snowden could have sold the information he leaked to foreign governments or passed it along to foreign intelligence or one of America's enemies but he did not. He released it to the public so the people could see what crimes their governments were perpetually committing with total impunity. That's not an act of espionage. That's an act of civil disobedience that makes us more aware of how corrupt our political system has become.
 
In essence, the antiquated, extremely broad espionage act states that one is guilty if one discloses classified information "with intent or reason to believe that the information is to be used to the injury of the United States, or to the advantage of any foreign nation." With the rising debate about our government's illegal surveillance state one has to wonder if what Snowden did actually brings "injury to the United States" or if he has performed a massive public service (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35391.htm) and there are many questions to be answered.
 
WASHINGTON'S RESPONSE TO SNOWDEN'S ACTIONS IS VERY REVEALING
 
The onerous irony is blatantly obvious: Those who have secretively implemented a surveillance state to spy on everyone in the world (link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jun/11/nsa-surveillance-us-behaving-like-china), including their own citizens are calling the person that exposed their illegal spying of espionage. Exactly who is the traitor? Obviously the only ones that have brought injury to the U.S. are those who have blatantly lied to us while illegally and unconstitutionally violating our privacy and rights. The Obama administration purposely leaks classified information all the time for purely political reasons to benefit Obama but no one in his administration is charged with felonies under the conveniently and broadly manipulated espionage act. Snowden is devoted to informing us of the government's illegal activities. It's ok to leak information to glorify Obama, but if you leak information that embarrasses the Obama administration and exposes its criminal actions "laws" are conveniently manipulated to try and crucify the whistle blower.
 
None of the illegal spying conducted by the NSA could have been carried out if the U.S. were truly a Democracy (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35313.htm) and a close look at the politics behind America's police state is quite revealing. America's police state isn't due to the "terrorist" attacks of 9/11. America's police state is due to Washington's global wars and imperialistic endeavors which is part of the reason that Washington is doing its damnedest to try and gut Medicare and Social Security. It takes trillions of dollars to fund illegal, imperialistic global wars. Washington’s imperialistic endeavors are taking a major toll on U.S. citizens at home.
 
The fact that Washington is trying to eviscerate Snowden for exposing their crimes is very revealing. Washington doesn't work for We the People. Washington works to protect itself (link: http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/permanent-washingtons-backlash-edward-snowden) and its corporate masters. Core notions about transparency and self-governance have been assaulted by the culture of corruption that Washington has become. Until we wake up to the authoritarian state that Washington has become, Washington will continue undermining civil liberties and committing massive crimes against We the People.
 
GOVERNMENT IS AFRAID OF AN INFORMED US PUBLIC
 
Do not fall for the disingenuous bloviating by officials in Washington about terrorists attacking us because Snowden leaked top-secret information. When it comes to the leaks by Snowden, Washington is resorting to its usual fear-mongering to try and sway public opinion (link: http://www.presstv.ir/usdetail/310769.html). Everyone in Washington, including a multitude of corrupt Congress critters who have blindly enabled Obama's massive illegal surveillance state are guilty of aiding and abetting (link: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article35216.htm) the Obama administration's illegal actions and are doing everything they can to keep their crimes covered up. Snowden knew exactly what he was doing and he did it because he felt Washington's criminal actions were out of control. His conscience wouldn't let him keep quiet about what Obama's administration was doing. He knows full well what the consequences of his actions will cost him and he's ready to fight for freedom and Democracy. That's called patriotism, not espionage. Washington is furious and will do all it can -- albeit it oftentimes illegally -- to eviscerate anyone who exposes their criminal behavior. "National Security" hasn't been endangered at all. The ability of Washington's culture of corruption and its leadership to work against U.S. citizens around the world with no accountability, no transparency, and no oversight has been endangered.

The secretive, deceitful actions of Washington are criminal. Exposing them is not.
