Islam Times , 13 Sep 2009 08:19

A member of the Council of Experts (majlis-i khubragan) discussed the importance of the Day of Quds and the protests that are held on its occasion.

He stated that one can conclude from the history of oppression and oppressive states that they chose a portion in the Middle East to start their oppression. They chose Israel and are continuing to try to expand it. The reason they chose this land is because they could hide behind the Jewish religious relationship with the land.

Ayatollah Namazi both a member of the Council of Experts and a member of the Society of Professors in the Islamic Seminary of Qom. He continued by stating that they do not have religious goals; rather they are trying to occupy and expand their domain.

He said: "Participating in the protests on the Day of Quds is an Islamic responsibility. Muslims must understand the oppressive countries of the world in order for them to be supportive of the oppressed people in Palestine. Anyone who loves Islam will not stay in their houses on the Day of Quds. Rather, they will stand up to oppression by joining the protests."
