Islamic Revolution Leader: No threat stands as long as Basij lives

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the media, political activists, and officials to avoid arguing over trivial matters.

"Today, the country's high priority is to counter enemies' soft warfare which is intended to incite doubt, discord, and suspicion in the society," Ayatollah Khamenei said and spoke of Basiji attitude as the best way to meet with the challenges.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution spoke of Basij and its formation as unprecedented and exceptional, adding, "It is the Islamic Revolution's specialty that the best of people defend the establishment regardless of any reward. The late Imam had the ability (to utilize this potentiality) with God's blessings."

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to Basij's active role in all stages of the Islamic Revolution and said without the help of Basij the outcome of Iran's Sacred Defense might have been different.

"After the war (Iraqi invasion of 1980), Basij has always pioneered in all fields. The country's achievements are because of these devoted, able, yet unknown people and not making these facts known to people is doing injustice to Basij," the Leader of Islamic Revolution said and added that Basij was beyond any cliché military formation despite the fact that its military wing was made of elites.

"Basij, in reality, is the active participation of a wide array of people regardless of wealth or position, founded solely on foresight and faith in God," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution emphasized on Basij's incomparable abilities and said it had been subjected to unfriendly conducts despite its merits.

"There would be no threats to the Islamic Administration while Basij lives and this is absolute," Ayatollah Khamenei asserted.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution urged the necessity to identify flaws and weaknesses within Basij so as to facilitate its progress. Ayatollah Khamenei added that after being defeated in hard war, the enemy had adapted the strategy of soft warfare and that it is a priority for the country to tackle the issue.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to what had happened after the June election as an instance of soft warfare and said the election was an excuse for the enemy to make people harbor grudges against each other. But their intentions to cause discord through manipulation of their agents turned to be impractical because of people's foresight.

"It is because of the need for understanding what is happening and identifying those behind the scene of such events that I insist on foresight," The Leader of Islamic Revolution said

Ayatollah Khamenei said any action that fostered enmity among people was harmful to the society and asked political movements as well as people to unite so as to stand against those who had intended to offer the country to the US and arrogant powers.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution warned about some irresponsible statements because they could blur things and cause people to form poor opinion of the elite or the authorities.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed deep dismay at some members of the media and press that sought discord and advised those who wished the best of the country to ignore minor disagreements.

Ayatollah Khamenei slammed those who spread rumors or slander and said such conducts were only favorable to enemy and said, "The President, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Chair of the System Interests Council, and the Head of Judiciary handle the country and must be trusted by People."

The IR Leader then cautioned about a post-election ongoing drive to make doubt about the performance of the authorities including the Ministry of the Interior and the Constitutional Guardian Council, adding that the enemy would surely wish for such an ambience.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Basiji folks to enhance their faith and foresight and also follow the standards in their judgments, adding that it is not allowed to call someone as hypocrite only for one single wrongdoing and that similarly no one could be called anti-leader only for his or her different views.

Ayatollah Khamenei then urged Basij to extend their dedicatory and untiring manner to other scientific and cultural arenas, adding that the country is in need of various undertakings which could only be accomplished through spirit of dedication.

"As long as a Basij-inspired spirit of sincerity and doing unrequited services exists among people, especially the youth, the enemy could not deal any blow to the country, the revolution or the Islamic System," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The IR Leader also noted that those who seek to confront the Islamic System, the Constitution and the magnificent public movement would rather know they are hitting their heads onto rocks and their efforts will end up in failure.
