Secretary of the Ummah Movement: The Strength of the Axis of Resistance and its Successive Victories are Among the Greatest Achievements of This Project

Islam Times had an exclusive interview in Tehran with the Secretary General of the Ummah Movement Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jabri, who confirmed that this conference has positive steps on solidarity and unity among Islamic peoples, and this unity among the resistance arenas is a reflection of the experience of rapprochement.

1 - What is the impact of spreading the culture of proximity on the future of the Islamic nation?

With regard to the culture of proximity, I believe that it is not a culture but a duty, and that working to bring the Islamic nation closer to the unity of the nation, and I see it according to my view as a divine duty. “God, Blessed and Exalted be He, said: And hold fast to the rope of God all together, and do not become divided.” Therefore, the unitary and approximate action is not a moody matter, not even a sufficient obligation, but rather it is an individual obligation and every Muslim must be keen on this matter because it is indeed uniting the fate of the nation, and this matter It needs action, not words, and it needs institutions. Even our educational institutions and our Islamic schools, at least Sunni and Shiite, we have to ask an important question, which is what we have done for unitary and approximate work, and we are so far adept at organizing conferences, and this is a good thing and rewards everyone who works with this work, but on the approximate level, practical and real life, what happened from the steps of this Big question after decades.

2 - To achieve the concept of unity and solidarity among Islamic peoples of all sects, we need to take unified positions by elites and scholars towards ideological issues and challenges that we face. How can this meaning be activated and replaced with a recognized institutional work?

Today, this failure is reflected in weakness on the nation's cohesion and strength, and therefore we find a reflection of the lack of real and correct action we find in any project that the enemy wants to pass, we find our arena infiltrated, and the issue of sectarian strife is one of the Zionist-American projects is the easiest thing because unfortunately we have disintegration because the differences Sectarianism is exploited by the enemy for its gains, much more than sectarianism. We tried that in Lebanon, because, unfortunately, Lebanon has become one of the biggest testing grounds. Therefore, we have to be honest with ourselves, starting with our homes and societies. Speech is good, but action has a stronger effect, and this matter bears the responsibility first of the scholars with what they know and understand from the Qur’anic verses and the honorable prophetic hadiths and what was reported from the Ahl al-Bayt peace be upon them and the Companions, and that they do what they know because they are the first to bear the responsibility before God, the Blessed and Exalted, and before their societies, as well as before history.

And Imam Khomeini, when he set up the Islamic Unity Week, he had great goals and objectives, the most important of which was abandoning controversial issues and facing the threat of global arrogance, and it was achieved by the grace of God Almighty. After more than forty years, we find that a large part of these goals has been achieved. Perhaps the strength of the Axis of Resistance is one of the greatest achievements of this project.

3 - We see that some elites and scholars are influenced by some political events and take inflammatory sectarian positions that define hates and grudges. How do you explain this situation?

Today, if we are successful and correct, we find that there are problems surrounding the nation and major crises, but awareness and faith require us to be more serious about unity because the wave of infidelity and atheism that has spread in our universities and societies after the youth’s alienation from religion, especially after the ugliness that ISIS terrorists showed us. Therefore, we must confront this intellectual wave through the jihad of explanation, which was called for by "Imam Khamenei, may God preserve him" by showing and clarifying the facts of the religion and reflecting the true image of the authentic Muhammadan Islam. This is also a jihad that is no less important than jihad in the battlefields, because we are subjected to cultural sabotage targeting the system of values, concepts and even beliefs that have been affected by extremists. In this period, we have to strive and work to solve the common crises that it imposes on the reality in which we live, starting with the economic situation to the issue of energy and security, and we are negligent in it, and you find moral or real conflict in it speeding up the initiative, especially in negative matters, as for the positive matters, there is a clear delay and weakness, with great regret.

4 - We are facing the phenomenon of chaotic fatwas, how can we deal with it?

The issue of fatwas is not only reflected on the issue of unity and rapprochement, but it also affects the religion itself. Today, religious institutions and references are supposed to control these matters.

5 - Is there a real ground for rapprochement, and will this conference be able to find logical and acceptable formulas for the divided Islamic street?

We note the importance of the nation's unity on the level of resistance between, especially in Lebanon and Palestine, and the new victory that it achieved in the Lebanese arena by obliging the enemy not to try to encroach on the maritime borders with it. Today, the resistance in Gaza can tell the enemy that it is this beach and the territorial waters that I benefit from as a Palestinian people, just as Lebanon benefited from the resistance in imposing its will on the Zionist enemy. And this unity between the arenas of resistance is a reflection of the experience of rapprochement, and this support and joint planning between the resistance arenas will positively affect the nation and the rapprochement is a very big title that needs honest scholars as was true, “Imam Khomeini, may God be pleased with him,” and it needs real and effective effort in religious institutions, and we must not spare effort on this matter. The call for rapprochement is not limited to the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and his family, but this must be a focal point from which we proceed to the space of unity and cohesion.
