US couldn’t stand Malcolm X grandson in Tehran

The comment comes as Muslim civil activist Malcolm Shabazz was reportedly arrested before starting his scheduled visit to Tehran to attend a conference on Hollywoodism, sources outside the United States confirmed on Monday.
 
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has refused to provide any information about his whereabouts.
 
Tehran hosted the third Hollywoodism International Conference, on the sidelines of the 31st Fajr International Film Festival in the Iranian capital Tehran on Sunday.
 
An interview with activist and radio host Don Debar to further discuss the issue.
 
Q: Mr. Debar I don’t know whether you have any information about this case but why should Malcolm X’s grandson be arrested in the first place?
 
Debar: It’s difficult to tell right now. I know Dr. Randy Short has been working with young Malcolm, in fact doing a tour over the past year at some point and he is the one that discovered that this happened and the one who disseminated the information.
 
And the details are sketchy but we know that the US government harassed and many believed had a hand in killing of his grandfather Malcom X after the public found out about the Co-Intel-Pro program in the seventies here that was conducted by the FBI he found out that they had a hand in creating tensions that supposedly resulted in the assassination in 1965.
 
So that and the fact that he was on his way to Iran where the media of the United States is being examined in front of the world basically. There are people from, last year here were almost 50 different countries represented there, I assume this year even more
 
    And someone with the name recognition of Malcolm X would certainly lend weight in international media to any statements that come out that are critical.
 
    I mean Senator Mike Gravel was there and he you know he has enough juice for the media to cover and therefore this conference and therefore the subject matter which is the propagandistic role that Hollywood plays in the imperial construct.
 
    I just think the habit of harassing Malcolm’s family and the fear of having someone with his potential stature making pronouncement’s about American propaganda was too much for them to handle. 
 
 
I’m hoping it’s only that and that he’s safe and just being held rather than something more ominous.
