Dr Ahmed explained that Egypt’s clear lack of support for Gaza at a time when Israel proved most vicious and deadly toward civilian populations in the Gaza strip has generated much confusion and upset across the region, putting a serious question mark over Egypt’s ability to position itself as an influential player in the Israel versus Palestine dynamic.

Since the Gaza War, Egypt has lost a lot of its credibility in the Islamic world as it appeared more intent on supporting Israel than Gazans.
