Trump taps into Israel fatigue among Americans: US journalist
David Christie made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday while commenting on a recent statement by Trump. The New York billionaire said on Friday that if he becomes president, he will strictly enforce the Vienna nuclear accord.

Trump’s rivals seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2016 presidential election have opposed the July 14 nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries and many have even vowed to undo it, but  he said he would comply with the Obama administration's nuclear deal with Tehran.

“The latest news on the Republican campaign front can basically be summed up in one word: Trumped,” Christie said.

“In fact since Donald Trump jumped on the election bandwagon, the erstwhile stars of the GOP clown show have been so upstaged by Trump’s showmanship and media savvy that they seem to have pretty much gone on the hook and been yanked completely off the national stage while Trump steps up and assumes the role of a ring master,” he added.

“And clearly the other clowns have failed to grasp one major truth about their audience: that Trump being an old hand of the media understood from the beginning, and that is that the same old act is not playing anymore,” he noted.

“The public is responding to Trump so favorably because the same old tired routines are as played out as the 'bearded lady and sawing a woman in half', but as usual, the other clowns have continued the same old tired routine that does nothing but makes them look like yesterday’s news,” the journalist stated.

“They are all dutifully lined up to malign and smear Obama at every turn while declaring that the nuclear negotiations with Iran are the road to doom,” Christie observed.

“You see, voters remember this when the circus came to town in 2003, and the show was all about Iraq.  It was the sample old routine then, it was the same old routine earlier this year with Netanyahu, and it is still the same old routine with them today,” he said.

“And frankly I think Trump maybe even slicker than a lot of people are giving him credit for. He has not only tapped into a general sense of boredom with the lack of fresh ideas among Republicans, he’s tapped into a much more ominous condition among the general public, and that condition is Israel fatigue,” he opined

“Of course, not even Trump would dare step out on a high wire that would ever portend to be critical of Israel, that kind of performance without a net is sure a career suicide that Trump is far too clever to risk. He doesn’t have to,” he pointed out.

“Let’s face it, all of Trump’s prior statements over the years reveal him to be simply wearing a mask when he claims to be a champion of the moral majority. The leopards in this circus never change their spots, it is all form over substance in the greatest show on the Earth,” he revealed.

“And Trump instinctively knows that the voters are sick and tired and fed up to their eyeballs with the interminable problems created for us by the never-ending, festering sore on our body politics known as Israel. He knows it, and everybody else knows it,” he said.

“So getting behind the Vienna accord is just one more very well-calculated and savvy reading of the public mood, and that’s the talent of a great showman and maybe even of a great president; who knows, but it does hint at some very interesting possibilities for now. Might as well relax and get out the popcorn, one thing is for sure: it is going to be a hell of a show,” the analyst concluded.
