US destabilizes nations, not after defeating ISIL
The US and its allies are providing support for the Daesh terrorists in the Middle East, not attempting to defeat them, said James Henry Fetzer, a retired professor in Madison, Wisconsin.

The entire crisis created by ISIL in Syria and Iraq is a fabrication of the US, Fetzer said.

The American scholar said Russia’s military buildup in Syria to fight ISIL is a “decisive move” by President Vladimir Putin that may bring some stability to the region.

“Vladimir Putin’s magnificent speech to the United Nations yesterday made it very clear that he was castigating the history of the West for having destabilized other nations in the world and created chaos and undermined human rights and sovereignty,” he added.

According to a new report by an American research group, the US military’s coordinated manhunt targeting senior Daesh leaders will not defeat the terrorist group and any damage would be temporary.

Any military plan against Daesh “must aim to eliminate, not merely degrade, its leadership and potential leadership,” said the report compiled by the RAND Corp., released on Monday.

“The coalition has successfully targeted numerous senior leaders, but the organization’s focus on creating a deep bench of personnel means that attacking individual leaders will not destroy the group,” it noted. “Replacements will rise, and any damaging effect will be temporary.”

The report comes as the US military’s top brass has concluded that the fight against ISIL has reached a tactical stalemate, while the Takfiri terror organization continues to expand beyond Iraq and Syria through new foreign recruits.

Fetzer emphasized that “the United States is supporting ISIL, not attempting to take it out.”

“We have long known that the United States and its allies were aware of 60 different ISIL bases, none of which they have attacked,” he said of the US-led air campaign against Daesh.

The Obama administration’s strategy against ISIL has come under withering criticism, especially after a series of damning testimonies by senior military leaders.
