The US military has blamed Iran for recent attacks on two oil tankers in the Sea of Oman.

Iran rejected the US claims, warning of "another Iranophobic campaign" being waged by Washington and its allies.

"The US and its regional allies must stop warmongering and put an end to mischievous plots as well as false flag operations in the region,"the Iranian mission to the UN said in a statement on Thursday.

“The US and Israeli fingerprints are all over the incident in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. Iran had nothing whatsoever to do with it,” Stephen Lendman said, noting they were false flag operations ordered by the US and Israel.

Lendman said the notion that peace-loving Iran wanted to start a war with the US by being behind the attacks in the Gulf Of Oman last Thursday was “inconceivable”.

He said these was no evidence, and there won't be any evidence, that Iran was behind any of the incidents attributed to Iran.

Lendman insisted the recent incidents, as well as the previous ones back in May, were not linked to Iran.

“It is inconceivable that Iran would want to do this. Iran is the region's leading proponent of peace and stability. It seeks cooperative relations with other countries. It wants conflict with none,” said Lendman.

Lendman said Iran’s peace-loving policy stood in stark contrast to the agenda pursued by the US, which wants to control Tehran, as well as Iran’s regional opponents.

“Compare that to the US agenda, and Israel's agenda, and the Saudis and the UAE. They want war. Especially, against Iran,” Lendman pointed out.

Lendman noted that the US wanted to wage war against any country it didn’t control to subjugate the nation.

“America has been waging wars against one country after another,” he said.

Lendman, however, warned that war with Iran would be very different.

“War with Iran would be another situation, entirely. The country is very powerful militarily. Iran could hit back very hard against US forces in the region, Israel, against the Saudis if they get involved, UAE, if they get involved, “ Lendman warned.

“If Russia and China were to get involved to help Iran against the aggression, we could possibly look at WWIII,” the analyst further warned.

Lendman said that he did not think that starting a war was the plan;“but, given the many crazy people in Washington, you can never rule that out.”

“With lunatics like Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor John Bolton running Trump's geopolitical agenda, anything is possible,” Lendman said in a previous interview.

Days ago Bolton vowed to present to evidence on Iran's involvement in the recent incidents, but he didn't.

Following those allegations, Iran officially warned about the use of fake intelligence, similar to those which resulted in the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, to push Washington toward a war with Tehran.

“Those who were responsible for the Iraqi invasion back in 2003 are the same people who are trying to create a conflict in our region," Iranian ambassador to the UN Majid Takht-Ravanchi said in May, referring to Bolton's role in the Iraqi invasion.

According to reports, Trump is angry with Bolton and Pompeo who are pushing the United States into a military confrontation with Iran.
