'Gaddafi's son must be tried at home'

Islam Times: Military spokesman for Libya's interim rulers-- Colonel Ahmed Bani, said Saif al-Islam should face justice at home, stressing that Libya will not accept the violation of its sovereignty.

Bani added that Libya is where Saif al-Islam must face the consequences of what he has done.

The spokesman said they will prove to the world that Libyans are civilized people with a fair justice system.

Muammar Gaddafi's violent death gives his 39-year-old son little incentive to surrender to the new rulers searching for him in the Sahara.

Officials in Tripoli fear that Saif al-Islam does not intend to surrender to The Hague and is playing for time in an attempt to escape into a nearby African state.

In June, the ICC charged Saif al-Islam Gaddafi with committing crimes against anti-regime protesters during the Libyan revolution.

Three of Saif al-Islam's brothers were killed during the Libyan revolution. Another, Saadi, has found refuge in Niger.

On October 20, Gaddafi was killed in his hometown of Sirte, eight months into an uprising that put an end to his 42-year dictatorship.
