The Arab League reconsiders Syria amendments

Syria (Islam Times) - An official source at the Arab League reported: The Secretary-General sent a letter to Foreign Minister Walid Muallem stressing that all actions taken by the Arab foreign ministers on Sunday in reference to the penalties must be reviewed ».


The letter mentioned that the Arab ministerial committee approved Syria’s suggestion to change the protocol’s title to “a draft protocol between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Secretariat of the League of Arab States regarding the follow-up on the situation in Syria.”

 Arabi added: The «University Council is willing to coordinate the Arab observers’ delegation and the Syrian side to ensure that the assembly is able to perform its mandatory functions» indicating that the purpose of involving the United Nations is to provide international support for the efforts of the Arab League in resolving the crisis in Syria.

Arabi did not mention the rest of the Syrian amendments regarding the Protocol, most notably limiting the selection of observers to Arabs only.
