Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie (L) and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh (R) attend a press conference in Cairo, Egypt
Muslim brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie warmly welcomed Haniyeh in a press conference in the group's headquarters in Cairo on Monday, voicing support for the Palestinian cause.

"The Brotherhood centre has always embraced issues of liberation, foremost the Palestinian issue," Badie said.

"There is no cause in the world that gains as much love, respect and support from all the free people of the world regardless of their race or beliefs like the Palestinian cause," he added.

The Palestinian premier, for his part, said that his visit to Egypt and the meeting with the Muslim Brotherhood threaten "the Israeli entity."

The senior Palestinian official reiterated that the Palestinian nation would continue resisting the Israeli occupation.

"Even though we knew that we will pay a high price, we said that we will not recognize Israel and we will keep on resisting this occupation," he said.

An aide to the Palestinian premier said Haniyeh is also scheduled to visit Sudan, Tunisia, Qatar, Bahrain and Turkey to discuss issues such as the illegal Israeli settlement activities in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip that was severely damaged in the Israeli war on the besieged region in 2008-09.
