Turkish troops kills 15 more PKK terrorists

16 Feb 2012 06:30

Islam Times - Turkish security forces have killed 15 members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the eastern province of Sirnak as Ankara continues operations targeting the terrorist group.

According to Turkish sources, security forces backed by helicopters attacked two PKK hideouts in Uludere district of the province late on Monday after the terrorists inside refused to surrender.

Two soldiers were also killed and four others were injured in the clashes.

Turkey launched massive operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party in October after the group killed 24 Turkish security forces in Hakkari Province, near Iraqi border, which was the deadliest toll against the Turkish military since the 1990s.

Tens of thousands of people have lost their lives since PKK terrorists launched an armed campaign against Ankara in 1984 in a quest to form an independent Kurdish state in southeastern Turkey.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international communities, including Turkey, Iran, the European Union, and the United States.
