Putin warns of catastrophic consequences to any strike against Iran
We suggest that the international community recognize Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program, including uranium enrichment, and in return Iran should place all its nuclear program under complete surveillance of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and in case this surveillance is upheld, all sanctions imposed on Iran should be cancelled.

Putin stressed the need not to allow a repetition of the Libyan scenario in Libya.

He also stressed that the Russians, and at the beginning of the so called Arab Spring, were sympathetic to the democratic reforms, “but after a short while it became clear that the developments in a number of countries were uncivilized.

Instead of being devoted to democracy and defending minority rights, other parties were marginalized and coups were being staged to replace the dominating parties with more hostile ones. What gave a negative character to the developments was the foreign intervention in favor of one of parties in the internal conflicts, and the military nature of such an intervention, until a reached a point that some of the countries, and under the pretext of humanitarian consideration, and with the help of areal strikes destroyed the Libyan regime and ended it with an ugly scene of Gaddafi’s murder.

Putin confirmed that the Libyan scenario should not be repeated in Syria and the International Community’s efforts should target, and before all else, achieving internal reconciliation in Syria. He added that it is important to stop the violence no matter where it comes from, and the National Dialogue should be launched without any preconditions and foreign intervention along with the respect to the sovereignty of Syria.

Putin also stressed that the main Russian diplomatic mission regarding the Syrian issue is to prevent a civil war in Syria.

He pointed out that Syria and China used the Veto regarding the draft resolution on Syria due to the previous experience of a similar resolution in Libya.
