Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, the deputy head of Hezbollah's executive council, added that the western-backed plots "would not change equations in Syria because the majority of Syrian people support the reforms (proposed by the government) and will not back American plans.”

The Hezbollah resistance movement supports Syrians who participated in the referendum on a new constitution which calls for a multi-party parliamentary election within three months, he said.

Qaouk also stressed that his party is against any plans that "make the Zionist regime (Israel) happy.”

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Hundreds of people, including security forces, have been killed since then.

The United States, Britain and France and countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey have supported measures against President Bashar al-Assad's government.
