11 Mar 2012 05:40

Baghdad (Islam Times) – Iraqi authorities announced that they have taken new measures to tighten control on the border with Syria in order to prevent cases of penetration or infiltration and to fill all possible gaps that the terrorists are using to enter Syria and commit their crimes. This serves as well to prevent any activity that is contrary to the Iraqi policy of non-interference with the affairs of other countries.

The news agency AFP reported that the Iraqi Office of the President issued a statement saying that the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki discussed the issue of border control with several senior security officials, especially the border with Syria.

The statement stressed the need for utmost discipline and especially on the border with Syria to prevent any activity that could affect the security of the country or break Iraq’s policy of non-interference in the affairs of other countries.

This is the second time in two weeks that a meeting has been held to discuss the crisis of border control and the announcement of new measures to strengthen control over the border.
