The official spokesmen for the Dubai police announced that Saleh was arrested on charges of verbally, in writing, or by any other means, spreading ideas that incite sedition, harm national unity or the social peace.

The source added that Saleh will be relayed to the public prosecution and the accused will be subject to federal law.

A security source in Dubai’s police stated that Saleh expressed statements that fall under the charges of libel and slander to the rulers of the state which led to his arrest. He also clarified that the case is purely criminal and procedures were taken according to the state laws.

He added that social networking sites have become vitally important and proved to have a great ability to influence the public, but it must not be abused or misused to incite against the government or express inappropriate statements towards government officials and governors.

He continued on saying that there is a big difference between freedom of opinion, which is available to all, and spreading accusations and terms that are punishable by law. He added that each person should bear the responsibility of his own actions and words.
