Saudi Arabia tortures Yemeni Prisoners

Islam Times , 5 Nov 2009 06:07

There are tens of thousands of Yemeni prisoners in Saudi Arabian prisons and they are being tortured.

Sayf al-Washili, a Yemeni who is opposed to Yemen’s government, reported Riyadh’s inhumane treatment of Yemeni prisoners in Saudi Arabian prisons. He said: “There are some months where thousands of Yemeni’s are arrested in Saudi Arabia; whereas in the past years would pass before the number of Yemen prisoners reached the tens of thousands.”

He clearly said the following about the economic problems of Yemen: “Yemenis enter Saudi Arabia looking for a quite and peaceful life; but the Saudi regime arrests them.” He added: “Saudi Arabia tortures them in many ways including dishonoring them and forcing them to strave.”

The people of Yemen are in difficult times due to the fighting that is happening in both the northern and southern areas of the country. The war has caused at least 150,000 people to become homeless since 2004. Saudi Arabia has also refrained to accept refugees and prevented aid being sent to Yemen.
