Difa-e-Pakistan council hold meeting against resumption of supplies to US-led forces in Afghanistan

Islam Times - A joint platform of several political and religious parties in Pakistan, called Difa-e-Pakistan Council, held a meeting in Peshawar to protest against the possible resumption of supplies to US-led forces in Afghanistan.

The alliance, which comprises 40 religious groups and parties, using Twitter and Facebook to spread their message, was formed after a US airstrike on a Pakistani border checkpoint killed at least two dozen Pakistani soldiers in November.

Since then, Pakistan has closed supplies routes for US-led forces in Afghanistan.

Leaders of Difa-e-Pakistan Council demand of the government to quit its alliance with the US and permanently close the supply line for US-led forces fighting in Afghanistan. They have warned of countrywide protest demonstrations if the supply line was restored.

Leaders of the parties have time and again called on the government to stop supporting the US in its so-called war on terror, and strongly denounced US assassination drone attacks in northwest Pakistan and the ongoing military operations by Pakistani troops in the country’s tribal regions. They believe these attacks are carried out at the behest of the US.

The alliance has already staged a series of rallies across the country, calling for unity against the western forces, which have infringed Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Leaders at the meeting also accused India and America of being part of a conspiracy to destabilize Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
