Report shows Muslim grown discontent in America

21 Mar 2012 08:44

Islam Times - The Council on American-Islamic Relations also known as CAIR is speaking out. The organization says rarely has the United States seen a more reckless campaign to vilify a class of people and compromise their fundamental civil and human rights than the recent rhetoric against Muslims.

The groups says in fact there is an Anti-Islam movement in America creating hate crimes, In May 2010, for example, a bomb exploded at an Islamic center in Jacksonville, Florida, but the group says the sure bigotry goes beyond ordinary citizens but is also coming from politicians and government employees, including Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich who recently compared Muslims to Nazis.

Over the past few years the latest news reports suggest there could very well be a spike in anti-Muslim hate crimes. Still, others disagree with the organizations statements and say Americans have been more than willing to embrace all religious groups, including Muslims.

And he's not alone plenty others agree. The Pew Research forum conducted a U.S. Religious Landscape Survey and found that religious affiliation in the U.S. is both very diverse and fluid, saying more than one-quarter of American adults (28%) have left the faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion - or no religion at all.

I think the average American still wants to be respected for their religion and is willing to be respectful of other religions as long as their being respectful of the ideas we hold as Americans.

An estimated two point three million Muslims live in America according to Pew Research, still many believe that estimate is low and there could be as many as seven million.
