Muslim Woman Harassed in New Jersey Mall Over Niqab
30-year old Waleekah Salaam, an American-Muslim born and raised in the country, says she has always been able to wear her religious garbs and clothing - including the niqab - with little ruckus and issue. But only within a few minutes of entering Bridgewatter Commons, a mall in New Jersey, she was confronted  by a security guard commanding her to take it off.

"He told me, 'I don't know who you are, and I need you to take that off,'" Salaam said.

"I was passing by the Apple store when he got in my face. He said, 'This is a private place. You can't wear that in here,'" she told the New York Post. "He came into my face and made a hand gesture like he was going to lift my veil off."

When Salaam tried to inform mall authorities on the issue, another guard blew her off and told her she was “overreacting.”

She has since spoken out on the issue, saying she felt “humiliated” and did not ever envision going back to such a mall. This despite receiving a written apology from a mall official exclaiming that she was “welcome” anytime.
