Majority of Turks oppose Ankara war on Syria: Poll
Fifty-seven percent of Turks are against Ankara taking military action in Syria, a poll conducted by the Center for Economic and Foreign Policy Studies (EDAM), an Istanbul-based think-tank, found on Friday.

The survey also shows that most of those opposed to military intervention in Syria favor a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

The Turkish poll was conducted between May 5 and June 5 among a representative sample of 1,500 people across the country.

Turkey is accused of backing anti-Syrian armed groups while Damascus has repeatedly called on Ankara to stop interfering in its internal affairs.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since early 2011, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of President Assad's government.

The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing protesters, but Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
