Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani (L) and Chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar Hakim meet in Tehran, July 10, 2012.
After the fall of the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's regime and withdrawal of the occupying forces from the country, it is now necessary to pay serious attention to Iraq’s development, said Larijani in a meeting with Chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar Hakim in Tehran on Tuesday.

“As always, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with the Iraqi government in different fields,” Larijani added.

He hailed the reduction in political conflicts in Iraq and stated that time is ripe to serve the Iraqi people and resolve their issues.

The Iranian Majlis speaker also emphasized that Iraq should make use of the opportunity of its presidency over the Arab League to promote stability and security in the region.

Hakim, for his part, assessed as “positive and upward” the trend of strengthening stability and security in Iraq and serving the nation despite foreign interference.
