Last Thursday, Saudi monarch has appointed Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz as the head of Saudi Intelligence, succeeding Prince Mokrin bin Abdulaziz, who had been allegedly discharged. Reports stated to the Saudi television that a royal order was issued to exempt Prince Mokrin from his post and his selection as the advisor and the special envoy of the King.

The news reported that the King requested Prince Bandar, the son of the late Prince Sultan and former ambassador of the Kingdom in Washington, to be appointed as the President of the General Intelligence while keeping his position as the Secretary-General of the National Security Council.

Prince Mokrin is the thirty-fifth of the sons of King Abdul Aziz; he has begun his career as an officer in the Royal Saudi Air Force until his retirement in 1980, he was then appointed governor of Hael region in the south of KSA, and later governor of Madinah, until the end of 2005 where he was appointed the General Head of Intelligence Services.
