Ghosheh: We have assurances that the Syrian opposition, is using weapons, including tanks

Ghosheh said in a press statement, "we are very concerned about the dangerous developments that occurred during the last 72 hours in the city of Aleppo, and the increasing violence in large parts of north-east of the city of Aleppo, including the neighborhoods of Saladin and the door of iron."

She noted that the Observer Group in the city of Aleppo "witnessed an exchange of fire, shelling and explosions and the use of aircraft, tanks and heavy weapons and artillery, and for the first time fire from warplanes."

She added, "Today we have assurances that the opposition forces used weapons including tanks, and there are reports of a large number of victims and refugees to other areas and schools, shelters and government buildings, we are concerned about the presence of civilians under bombardment.”

Ghosheh demanded all the conflicting parties in Aleppo "to respect humanitarian obligations under international law to protect civilians, and the distinction between debtors and combatants," asking “self-restraint and the transition from fighting to dialogue."

On the possibility of team leader of the Observer Group, General Babcar Gaye to the city of Aleppo, Ghosheh said that "Aleppo is witnessing confrontations and battles, and we are unarmed military observers, we cannot do this visit now, we have confidence in our team which is currently working in Aleppo.”
