Iran security chief to discuss Syria conflict in Lebanon

Story Code : 185360
Secretary of Iran
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili
Jalili will depart Tehran for the Lebanese capital city Beirut on Monday.

During his visit, the top Iranian official is set to hold talks with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on the latest regional developments.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011, with many people, including large numbers of security forces, killed in the turmoil.

While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and insurgents for the unrest,” insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
