Russian embassy in London was attacked by a group of vandals on 16 August.
The Russian embassy in London was attacked by a group of vandals chanting slogans against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Friday 16 August.

The incident caused “significant damage” to the building as the protesters were smashing windows and throwing stones at the consulate department of the Russian embassy in London.

Russian diplomats condemned the UK Police’s poor performance and said they refused to take proper measures to stop the demonstration although they were present at the scene.

“The police that arrived at the scene, regretfully, did not take measures to stop the continuing unsanctioned rally or detain the attackers”, said an embassy spokesperson.

As a result of the incident the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador to Moscow, media reports said.

Moreover, Russian diplomats in London said this was not the first case of vandalism against the embassy this year.

"We view the incident as a new case of violation of the principle of inviolability of diplomatic missions in London”, the embassy said in a statement.
