Bahrain authorities imprison the youngest political prisoner in the world
The Bahraini court renewed the sentencing of the child Mirza Abdulshaheed Mirza (12 years old) and Mohsen Mohammad Sadiq Al-Arab (13 years old) for a week in detention. They had been arrested 21 days earlier. Mirza thus becomes the youngest political prisoner in the world. They were arrested along with Mohammad Abbas Al-Mawlani (16 years of age) with the same charges.

Al-Wifaq (National Accord Association), stated that this is a clear example of the regime’s oppression, human rights violations, arbitrary arrests, politician prosecution, and the false image of justice being portrayed to the world.

The three children were arrested on August 7th 2012 on charges of assembly and illegal arson, after being present in the same area where tires where being burnt. These children now share the Bahraini detention facilities and prisons with more than 80 children arrested on political charges.
