Egyptian activists demand immediate release of Naglaa Wafaa

4 Sep 2012 07:22

Islam Times - Human Rights activists in Egypt have called for the release of an Egyptian Woman Naglaa Wafaa who has been sentenced in Saudi Arabia to 5 years in prison and 500 lashes.

They have also called for the immediate release of all the Egyptians who were unlawfully detained in Saudi Arabia. The mother of Naglaa said that the sentence against her daughter is due to a business dispute with a Saudi Princess.

According to a statement made by the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, Wafaa has been under arrest since 2009 and after a 2 year trial where she was not allowed legal representation she was found guilty.

This lady is also a mother of an Egyptian worker living in the Saudi Kingdom. She recalls how her son receives punishment by the Saudi authorities.

Many Egyptians have repeatedly called on the authorities here in Egypt to intervene in order to release all the Egyptians imprisoned in Saudi Arabia who they believe were unlawfully detained and mistreated by the Saudi authorities.

Anti-Saudi sentiments have flared up here in Egypt as many Egyptian  nationals are reportedly being mistreated or encountering miscarriage  of justice in the courts of the Kingdom but it seems Saudi Authorities met this criticism with much negligence as there has been no reaction from their side yet.
