Iran near self-sufficiency in defense industry: Vahidi
“Today, we are self-sufficient in almost all areas of defense productions,” said Vahidi on the sidelines of a ceremony in the Iranian northern city of Firouzkooh told IRNA on Saturday.

He expressed optimism that Iran’s defense industry could achieve total self-sufficiency in the coming years.

“By fully strengthening the armed forces in all the areas of air defense, passive defense, as well as maritime, missile and ground [forces], etc. the Islamic Iran has become one of the most powerful defense and combat powers in the world,” the defense minister pointed out.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

In early July, the IRGC test-fired indigenous missiles during a three-day military drill codenamed the Great Prophet 7.

Iran has repeatedly stated that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
