A Diplomat warns Bahrain King

Islam Times - A Lebanese-based newspaper, Diyar, recently warned Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that unless he was to change his attitude toward his people he could very well suffer the same fate as the Shah of Iran. Back in the 1970s, The Shah failed to answer Iranians calls for reforms and democracy, which ultimately cost him not only his monarchy but also forced him in exile.

According to the newspaper, a Bahraini ambassador would have also drawn the same parallel, saying that indeed the King of Bahrain could become the next Shah of Iran.

Several officials, both foreign and nationals actually urged King Hamad to consider fulfilling Bahrainis’ demands if anything to preserve the monarchy. They emphasized to the King that trying to get rid of the Bahrain Shiite community through deportation, imprisonment and the arrival of many Sunni Muslims would solve nothing.
