US marks 9/11 anniversary

It is the eleventh anniversary of the attacks on New York and Washington.

President Obama signed a proclamation designating the anniversary as Patriot Day and National Day of Remembrance. On Capitol Hill, in New York and Pennsylvania special ceremonies were held.

Members of Congress gathered on the Capitol steps as they do each year.

And yet still as tragic as the attacks were as the years pass many Americans have not forgotten but are moving on with life and simply do not take the time to remember the lives lost with a moment of silence.

And as some countries may feel as though Americans pause and stop what they are doing during the moment of silence, for most Americans it is simply not the case.

Eleven years, thousand of lives lost, yet the memory some how fading.
