Protest against anti-Islam film spreading across Europe

17 Sep 2012 07:19

Islam Times - Protest against the now notorious American anti-Islam film is now spreading across Europe. The reasons for protesting seem to be spreading too.

This protest in front of the U-S embassy by one Muslim group in Britain IS against the film. And IS in support of their prophet. But the anger you can see here and across the world is not just about one obscure American film.

It is rooted in so much more than that. It is rooted in sentiment across the Muslim world, that Western governments, and especially America, have continuously attacked their land, and their beliefs. That they have been demonized and oppressed.
It is about Palestine. Afghanistan. Iraq. It’s about Guantanamo Bay, and Western support of Arab dictators.

It’s hard to separate all this anger with the emotion evoked when your most holy figure is defamed.

Although the American government has distanced itself from this film, most muslim’s believe their long-term policy on Islam has, at the least, facilitated it. There are 1.6 billion Muslims globally And the Prophet Muhammad, is THE unifying force between them. There may different opinions about how such offenses should be dealt with, but not about how this film has made them feel.

Philbert Setren is an American filmmaker who lives near the embassy and was walking in the nearby park. He said the violence has unnerved him.

Philbert thinks its long term anger that has caused attacks on U-S embassy’s across the Middle East and the film was just a catalyst. Nobody knows where this film came from. Who made it? Who funded it? Where they are or why they translated in to Arabic. Or why the promoted just before September 11th. Nor do we know, if it was in fact an intentional catalyst, for reasons that can be analyzed, but for now are unknown.
