The Iranian president was welcomed by Iran's Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaei upon his arrival at the John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday.

Ahmadinejad is scheduled to address the 67th session of the General Assembly due on Wednesday and elaborate on the Islamic Republic’s stance on key international issues.

On the sidelines of the session, he will also hold talks with senior officials from the participating countries, UN figures, heads of regional and global organizations, American university professors and students, religious leaders and Iranian nationals in the US.

The Iranian chief executive will also meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon later on Sunday.

As Iran holds the rotating presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the next three years, President Ahmadinejad will also hold meetings with senior officials of the movement to discuss the necessity for the establishment of structures and executive bodies within the NAM.

The Iranian president will also attend a press conference.

This is Ahmadinejad’s eighth trip to New York for a UN General Assembly session since first becoming president back in 2005.
