Turkish FM Davutoglu accuses BBC of Syria interview distortion

"I have made no remarks which would suggest that it was worth taking the risk of war to establish a safe zone in Syria," Davutoglu told Anadolu Agency.

"Turkey has kept its doors wide open to its Syrian brethren from the very early stages of the crisis and it will keep it that way. International community needs to show the necessary response to the humanitarian tragedy without any delay. This is the point that I have made in the [BBC] interview," Davutoglu said.

    The denial came after the BBC claimed that "Davutoglu called again for the establishment of safe zones for refugees in northern Syria -- which would take a considerable military operation."


Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says 'outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists' are the driving factor behind the unrest while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the violence.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the armed militants are foreign nationals.
