Bahraini opposition questioned the usefulness of a dialogue with the regime

24 Oct 2012 06:04

Islam Times - Bahrain political opposition is now questioning the need and use for a dialogue with the regime since the government so far had proven it was not interested in conducting reforms and establishing a more democratic system.

All opposition political societies issued yesterday a statement to the Minister of Justice and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, questioning the need for a political dialogue and negotiation as the regime had failed to show tangible change.

The allied associations -- Al-Wafa, Alwefaq, Alwahdi, Altajamo and Alekha – wrote in a common statement that talks were useless if nothing tangible was to happen on the ground after that.

«We believe that any serious dialogue requires agreement on the parties attending the dialogue to commensurate representation of different views, and needs to agree on the presidency and validity of the dialogue.”
