Afghan policeman kills 2 British soldiers in Helmand

"An individual wearing Afghan National Police uniform turned his weapon against ISAF forces in southern Afghanistan, killing two soldiers," the US-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement.

The incident occurred in the Greshk district of southern Helmand Province on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, two British soldiers were also killed in the same province.

    Earlier in the week, Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry rejected Western claims that the killings of US-led troops were carried out by militants who have infiltrated the Afghan police force.


The ministry added that the recent green-on-blue attacks were instigated by US-led foreign soldiers’ disrespect of Afghans and Islamic values.

At least 56 US-led foreign soldiers have been killed in such attacks so far this year.
