Bahrain Forum for Human Rights: The Government poses a Threat on its People

4 Nov 2012 06:49

Islam Times - Bahrain forum for human rights said on Wednesday that the Bahraini government is posing a threat on its people.

That forum said in a statement which ‘Islam Times’ received a copy of that the Bahraini government “has become a real threat on the safety of the Bahraini people and their freedom”.

It considered that the decision of the Bahraini prime minister Rachid bin Abdallah Al Khalifa to ban rallies and marches is an “explicit declaration of a state of emergency, and also represents a serious violation of the civil peace process”.

It added that the message “carries a clear threat to the political associations, opinion leaders, activists, and field workers”. It then called on the Bahraini people “to stick to their legitimate right to peaceful demonstrations, and the exercise of the right to freedom of expression”.

The Bahraini interior minister Sheikh Rachid bin Abdallah al Khalifa had decided to ban all marches and gatherings in the country, justifying his decision that it is in order to “preserve civil peace”.

Bahrain witnesses, since the month of February 2011, increasing popular protests, demanding political and social reforms, led by the opposition political associations.
