Petraeus to testify in Senate Intelligence Committee: US senator
John McCain had confirmed on Wednesday that the former general is to testify in several closed-door hearings before the Senate Intelligence Committee this Thursday over the deadly September 11, 2012 attack.

This comes as retired General David Petraeus resigned last week as CIA director because of an extramarital affair, while Marine General John Allen is currently under an ongoing FBI probe for “improper communications” with a woman involved in the scandal.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein criticized the FBI for failing to notify the intelligence committees in Congress.

Also, Homeland Security Committee Representative Peter King said that the length of the FBI's investigation into Petraeus' extramarital affair raises serious questions about the government's response to potentially comprised intelligence.

Petraeus’ resignation comes as the intelligence community remains under pressure over the attack in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others.
