UK MP to face axe for criticizing Israel’s treatment of Palestinians

In an item posted on his website, David Ward accused “the Jews” in Israel of having failed to learn lessons from their persecution by the Nazis in World War II by continuing to “inflict atrocities” on Palestinian people “on a daily basis”. 
 
However, the liberal Democrats “condemned” his comments, which were released ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day. 
 
A Liberal Democrat spokesman said, “This is a matter we take extremely seriously. The Liberal Democrats deeply regret and condemn the statement issued by David Ward and his use of language which is unacceptable.” 
 
But in an interview with Sky News, the Bradford East MP defended his remarks, saying they were "just a statement of fact". 
 
The British MP, who has been summoned to a meeting with party whips next week, also stressed that he considers the Liberal Democrat party’s “reprimand regrettable”.
