The National Democratic Unionist Assembly raises questions over renewed violence in Bahrain

19 Feb 2013 05:16

Islam Times - Bahrain National Unionist Assembly - NUA - which back in January said it welcomed King Hamad al-Khalifa calls for a National Dialogue, wondered just how political factions were meant to discuss an end to the current crisis while protesters were still being repressed and shot at by the state security forces in the streets of Manama.

In an official statement the NUA stressed no positive outcome would possibly come out of the National Dialogue while the regime will continue to use excessive violence to repress the legitimate demands of its people. "Repression, torture, murder and violence cannot prelude to a peaceful resolution of the crisis."

The NUA strongly condemned the recent surge in violence, mentioning the senseless murder of Hussein al-Jaziri - a young man who died after he was shot by the security forces -

Over the past few days, dozens of protesters were injured and countless more arrested, exactly two years in the uprising.

The NUA denounced the state attack against al-Jaziri's funeral procession, stressing the government should have never ordered his men to cordon off Manama by fear of reprisals.

In its statement the group of the opposition not only denounced Bahrain regime but also the international community, and more particularly, the United State and the United Kingdom as both nations continue to support al-Khalifa regime despite countless reports of tortures and human rights violations.

It called on the international community to end the cycle of violence and recognized that the people of Bahrain had an inherent right to self-determination.
