America violates Pakistan’s sovereignty through drone attacks, says UN

Ben Emmerson, the UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism, says the Pakistani government made clear to him it does not consent to such intrusion on its airspace and territories.
 
He added Pakistani officials had told him they estimated civilians’ casualties to amount 400 so far and mounting.
 
A Pakistani analyst helping Emmerson’s team, Imtiaz Gul, noted Friday he gave the UN investigator 25 case studies in which civilians had been killed.
 
Emmerson’s statement was released on Thursday, following his three-day visit to Pakistan which ended Wednesday.
 
U.S officials have disputed claims drones have killed many civilians in Pakistan. They have also alleged Pakistan secretly consents to the strikes.
The drone strikes in Pakistani tribal areas bordering Afghanistan were launched in 2004 and so far more than 3000 people including innocent civilians have been killed in the attacks.
