UK MP gets alcohol ban after drunken fight

The violent episode followed another altercation last year leading to the conviction of the MP Eric Joyce to a forced community service.
 
Amid pressure that Joyce should resign from his parliamentary post, Commons Speaker John Bercow said Joyce will be indefinitely banned from buying alcohol at Westminster.
 
Joyce was nabbed at Westminster’s Sports and Social Club on Thursday and reports said the police had to wrestle with him during his arrest.
 
After the incident, both Labour and the Scottish National Party (SNP) suggested that Joyce should quit as an MP, despite his pledge to continue as the MP for Falkirk until the 2015 election.
