Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi on ‘historic’ visit to Sudan
Morsi arrived in Khartoum on Thursday for a two-day visit, which the Sudanese government said was ‘historic.’

“It is a historic visit because of the strategic depth of the relations between the people of the two countries, and both leaders are elected,” said Emad Sayed Ahmed, the press secretary of the Sudanese president.

Ahmed also said the visit followed the two leaders’ previous talks held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in September 2012.

The Egyptian president is also scheduled to hold talks with Sudanese party leaders and members of the Egyptian community in Sudan.

The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly in the fields of trade and investment.
