Iran to hold 6th international conference on Islamic Awakening
During a Tuesday press conference, Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati elaborated on the programs of the two-day event, which is due to be held in Tehran on April 29-30.

Velayati, who is also a senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, further described the upcoming event as the most important conference on the Islamic Awakening ever held so far.

“When the wave of Islamic Awakening swept across many Arab countries back in 2010, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who is the harbinger of awakening in our era, said that this wave would add to the grandeur of the Islamic Ummah and would cut off the hands of domineering powers,” Velayati said.

“Today we witness that this prediction has come true,” he added.

Some 500 foreign scholars and religious figures in addition to 200 domestic experts and thinkers will participate in the event, the Iranian official said.

The issue of Palestine and Islamic resistance as well as the role of religious figures in boosting the Islamic Awakening will be among the issues to be discussed by special committees during the two-day conference.

Last year, Iran organized several international conferences on the roles of youths, women, university professors and scholars in the Islamic Awakening.
