Egyptian security forces arrest 15 over killing of Shia Muslims
On Monday, Egypt prosecution issued arrest warrants for 15 people implicated in the murder of four Egyptian Shias Muslims, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reported.

The arrests were made after senior security and judicial officials visited the crime scene and heard the testimony of over 20 witnesses.

The developments come a day after a group of Takfiri extremists attacked the house of a Shia cleric in a village near the capital, Cairo.

The cleric and his followers were murdered after the house was surrounded by hundreds of people promising to kill them for merely being Shias.

They were killed and then dragged out into the street by Takfiri extremists in Giza Province on Sunday

The Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil has denounced the killing of the Shias, adding that he was closely following the investigation into the incident and also promised that the culprits will be punished.

The incident comes a week after Salafist clerics insulted Shia Muslims during a rally attended by the Egyptian president.

The Shia community is being targeted by Salafists, with support of countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Shias, who form just one percent of Egypt’s population, are often under attack by extremist groups in the North African country.
