6 Jul 2013 05:56

Islam Times - Former minister, Karim Baqradawani from the Phalange party said in view of events in Egypt that former President Mohammed Morsi had committed great many errors while in office, citing his stance against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

In an interview with Fars new agency, the former minister said he believes President Morsi's political mistakes led to his demise and open the way for the Egyptian opposition to take to the streets.

He noted that in his mind the Muslim Brotherhood poses a political and national security threat to Egypt.
"From here, the experience of the Muslim Brotherhood has proven short and full of mistakes, it was shown that while the group very much desires power its ability to perform at a governmental level was inadequate."

Baqradawani added that ultimately the demise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt bodes well for President Assad as the group is bound to lose some of its influence on a regional level as well.

He emphasized that the Hamas will also be affected by the fall of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. The Hamas recently sided against President Assad, betraying its political neutrality in the region.
